So, it's been almost two months since Matthew arrived. While it seems like yesterday most of the days, it also feels like he's been here forever on the other days. He is amazing little baby boy. He has had his moments, but for the most part he is very calm and likes to just sit in his Papasan or High Chair and watch what we are doing. He sleeps on average ten hours a night with only one waking to eat so I haven't had that sleep deprived feeling. He sleeps on his stomach *GASP*. I know what many of your are thinking...Is something wrong with her? APA says that they should be put into their crib on their backs, PERIOD. That may be the case, but I firmly believe that it is all in how you parent. I am very hyper aware of my children and have been since birth. Matthew's older brother, Joshua, has slept in our bed for 15 months with the pillow-top mattress, the sheets, comforter, and yes our huge fluffy pillows. You just have to be aware of how your child is sleeping at night and that makes it safe to co-sleep. Not that I recommend it for everyone. I would prefer him sleep in his own bed by now, but hey, we are on the right foot with Matthew. He is a wiggle worm when he sleeps...gets that from his daddy. I can lay him in the crib lengthwise right smack in the middle and when I go to get him out he is horizontal in the crib. Feet touching the back and head touching the front of the crib. He does not like to be swaddled at all. We tried it and all we heard was grunting and crying till we took it off him.
Matthew is smiling now is awake a lot of the time during the day although he hasn't found his complete wake times...at least they aren't at night. He particularly loves watching Joshua and follows him around the room.
